Terms of Use

Last updated: July 24, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply when you access or use AttorneyHelp.org, including its legal guides, attorney directory, articles, news, browser-based preparation tools, and other resources. By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

About this website

AttorneyHelp.org is a general legal-information and preparation resource. It is not a law firm, lawyer-referral service, court, government agency, or legal-aid provider. We do not represent you, evaluate a claim, recommend a particular legal strategy, or guarantee that an attorney will contact or accept you as a client.

No legal advice or attorney-client relationship

Site content is provided for general informational and organizational purposes only. It is not legal advice and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified attorney who can review the facts, documents, jurisdiction, and current law relevant to your situation.

Visiting the site, using a tool, reading an article, contacting AttorneyHelp.org, or contacting a listed attorney does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship with AttorneyHelp.org, the site's operators, a contributor, or a listed attorney. An attorney-client relationship is formed only through a separate agreement with the attorney or law firm involved.

Do not use this site for an emergency or wait for a site response when a legal right, safety issue, court date, filing period, or other time limit may be involved. Contact a qualified attorney, court, government agency, emergency service, or other appropriate authority directly.

Legal preparation tools

Our tools organize only the values and information you enter. They do not review evidence, apply law to facts, determine whether you have a claim or defense, predict an outcome, calculate legal deadlines, or recommend a lawyer.

  • The Attorney Fee Calculator shows illustrative scenarios, not a quote, invoice, settlement estimate, or prediction of total legal cost.
  • The Case Timeline Builder organizes events but does not decide which facts are legally relevant or when a legal time period begins.
  • The Deadline Reminder Planner subtracts ordinary calendar days from a date you enter; it does not determine, verify, extend, or recalculate a legal deadline.
  • Consultation and document tools provide general prompts and do not determine what questions, documents, evidence, or actions your matter requires.

Review every result and confirm important fees, dates, procedures, and next steps with the appropriate attorney or official source. Tool inputs are generally processed in your browser and are not submitted to our server as part of the tool's operation. See our Privacy Policy for information about page-level analytics and advertising services.

Attorney directory and professional information

Directory entries may contain information provided by attorneys or law firms, obtained from public sources, or collected at an earlier date. We do not guarantee that a listing is complete, current, accurate, or that a person is licensed, in good standing, insured, available, qualified for a particular matter, or permitted to practice in your jurisdiction.

Inclusion, placement, or prominence in the directory is not an endorsement, ranking, referral, or guarantee. Some listings or links may be sponsored or promotional. Before hiring an attorney, independently confirm identity, license status, disciplinary history, experience, conflicts, fees, scope of work, and engagement terms. Appropriate sources may include the applicable state bar, licensing authority, court, or the attorney's written engagement agreement.

Any consultation, engagement, payment, representation, or dispute is between you and the attorney, law firm, or third party involved. AttorneyHelp.org is not a party to that relationship.

Articles, news, and third-party submissions

Laws, court rules, agency practices, fees, and professional information can change. Articles and news items may be incomplete, outdated, edited for length, or supplied by outside authors, organizations, or press release services. Publication does not mean that AttorneyHelp.org verifies every statement or endorses the author, organization, legal position, product, or service described.

Always check current primary sources and seek appropriate professional advice before relying on information for a legal decision.

Third-party links and advertising

The site may link to third-party websites and display advertising from outside networks. We do not control the content, availability, security, services, policies, or practices of those third parties. A link, advertisement, or directory entry does not imply endorsement. Your use of a third-party site or service is governed by its own terms and policies.

Information you submit

If you submit a listing, correction, article, comment, suggestion, or other material, you represent that you have the right to provide it, that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that it does not violate another person's rights or applicable law. You grant us permission to review, edit, reproduce, publish, and use that material as reasonably needed to operate and improve the site.

Do not submit confidential communications, privileged material, sensitive case details, or information you are not authorized to disclose through ordinary email or a general website form.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the site for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or misleading activity.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, its server, accounts, or connected systems.
  • Introduce malicious code or interfere with the site's security, availability, or operation.
  • Use automated methods to scrape, harvest, or copy site content in a way that creates an unreasonable burden or violates applicable law.
  • Submit false, infringing, discriminatory, defamatory, confidential, or otherwise unlawful material.
  • Misrepresent an affiliation with AttorneyHelp.org or use its name or branding to imply an endorsement that does not exist.

Content and intellectual property

Unless otherwise indicated, the site's original text, organization, design, graphics, tool interfaces, and other original materials are owned by or licensed to AttorneyHelp.org and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may use the site for personal, noncommercial informational purposes. You may not reproduce, republish, sell, or create a competing collection from substantial portions of the site without permission, except as allowed by law.

Availability and changes

We may update, correct, remove, suspend, or discontinue any page, listing, article, tool, or feature at any time. We do not guarantee that the site will always be available, error-free, secure, or compatible with every browser or device.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the site and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, reliability, timeliness, or suitability of any content, listing, tool result, link, advertisement, or third-party service.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AttorneyHelp.org and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from reliance on site content, use of a tool, a missed deadline, directory information, dealings with an attorney or another third party, third-party websites, interrupted access, or loss of data. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms as the site or applicable requirements change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. Your continued use of the site after updated Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the extent permitted by law.
