On 24 July 2026, a rapidly spreading grass fire threatened Lighthouse Station (LS) Zabali in Sitio Diguisit, Barangay Zabali, Baler, Aurora. The fire was first detected by personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Baler, who immediately alerted Coast Guard Station (CGS) Aurora and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Baler, triggering a swift joint response. CGSS Baler arrived first, beginning the initial firefighting efforts, while BFP-Baler firefighters and later reinforcements from CGS Aurora, the Maritime Safety Services Unit‑Northern Eastern Luzon, and volunteer residents worked together to contain the blaze within an hour.
The coordinated effort successfully extinguished the fire, leaving LS Zabali undamaged and with no casualties. Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan, PCG Commandant, praised the responders for their initiative and commitment, noting that "Our personnel did not wait for a call for help. They identified the danger and worked alongside partner agencies to protect a critical maritime navigation facility."
