US approves limited rollout of Anthropic's Mythos 5 AI model

The US government has granted Anthropic permission to restore access to its advanced Mythos 5 AI model for a select group of trusted American cybersecurity firms and infrastructure providers. This decision follows a suspension imposed on June 12 after US authorities identified vulnerabilities in safeguards intended to prevent technology misuse. US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed that Anthropic has addressed the identified risks, allowing for this restricted redeployment.

Anthropic is currently working to provision these approved providers and is negotiating with the government to eventually restore public access to its less powerful Fable 5 model.
