LexisNexis Legal & Professional has expanded its Lexis+ platform with Protégé, a legal AI tool designed to help law firms and corporate legal departments complete complex work faster while reducing citation risk and maintaining confidentiality controls. Unlike many current legal AI solutions that generate text without verification, Protégé integrates LexisNexis's legal content library and Shepard's citation intelligence into a single system. The platform features Protégé Work, a workflow system that routes requests to specialized skills or generates structured plans for complex tasks, allowing lawyers visibility and control over each step. Protégé Agentic Drafting creates contracts, motions, and other documents grounded in firm templates and prior work. Key verification and security features include Shepard's Verify Trust Markers to check citations against authoritative sources, Protégé Vault for analyzing documents and linking findings to source material, and Protégé Workrooms for secure collaboration with dual approvals and audit trails. For organizations handling sensitive data, Protégé offers BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) to manage encryption keys through major cloud providers. The platform is expected to roll out globally throughout 2026 following its U.S. launch.
