The Maryland Blockchain Association (MDBA) announced the successful passage of three key bills by the Maryland General Assembly, with another slated for consideration in 2027. These bills – HB 470, HB 810, and HB 1355 – create a comprehensive framework for digital asset integration, focusing on legal clarity, consumer protection, and economic growth. HB 470 establishes a task force for regulatory recommendations, HB 810 studies blockchain for secure land records, and HB 1355 regulates stablecoin service providers. Additionally, SB 154, awaiting passage in 2027, will recognize “Controllable Electronic Records” under the Uniform Commercial Code, enabling secure digital transactions. The MDBA expressed gratitude to key legislators and community members for their support and announced the Maryland Blockchain Bootcamp & Workforce Expo in July to educate on the new laws. The association is also launching an International AI Agent & Digital Asset Modernization Task Force in partnership with DARA, aiming to further build Maryland’s position as a hub for blockchain innovation.
