Summary
Fast Company’s 2026 list of the World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies highlights several companies with a significant presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area and across Texas. HKS, a Dallas-based architecture firm, ranked highest in the region at No. 31 overall and No. 1 in Architecture, recognized for its air quality-enhancing Astra Tower in Salt Lake City. Other DFW companies on the list include Lantern, JSX, Emburse, Nice, Chili’s, Dude Perfect, and COSM, each innovating in healthcare, air travel, enterprise software, AI, dining, media, and augmented/virtual reality respectively.
Texas as a whole secured 26 spots on the list, with Austin-based AMD and defense startup Saronic also ranking in the top 50. The state’s innovation extends beyond these leaders, with companies in Houston and other cities contributing to advancements in real estate, energy, and space technology. The DFW region is increasingly becoming a “living lab” for these companies, testing and deploying new technologies in areas like autonomous vehicles, traffic management, and micromobility.
Notably, companies like Waymo, Zoox, and Nuro are expanding autonomous vehicle operations in Dallas, while Alstom maintains key infrastructure at DFW International Airport. This concentration of activity underscores North Texas’s growing role as a hub for innovation and a key player in shaping the future of various industries.
