Smarsh unveils AI agents to speed probes & cut costs

It Brief India
Smarsh launched AI agents for investigations and compliance, aiming to reduce costs by up to 75% and accelerate timelines.

Summary

Smarsh has introduced new AI-powered software agents designed to significantly improve the speed and efficiency of corporate investigations and compliance surveillance. The Discovery Agent focuses on legal discovery, promising to reduce investigation timelines from weeks to hours and cut costs by up to 75% by quickly surfacing relevant information. Simultaneously, the Intelligent Agent enhances compliance surveillance by identifying risk signals earlier and reducing the volume of low-risk alerts needing review, potentially cutting review volumes by 50%.

The launch also includes infrastructure updates, notably CryoStore, a new storage tier designed for long-term data retention at a reduced cost, ensuring data is readily available for AI analysis. Smarsh emphasizes the importance of 'data readiness' for effective AI implementation in risk management.

According to Smarsh CEO Kim Crawford Goodman, the company is leading a shift where archived communications are transformed into actionable intelligence. These agents run on domain-adapted large language models and include features for transparency and auditability, addressing regulatory expectations. The company aims to move organizations from reactive monitoring to proactive intelligence, reducing operational costs and improving decision-making.
