Wealthsimple named CIX Innovator of the Year | BetaKit

Toronto-based FinTech company Wealthsimple has been awarded the 2026 CIX Innovator of the Year award by Elevate, acknowledging its significant growth and innovative contributions to the Canadian financial services sector. The company experienced a successful 2025, doubling its assets under administration and valuation to $100 billion CAD and $10 billion CAD respectively, adding 650,000 clients, and completing strategic acquisitions of Fey and Plenty. Wealthsimple also launched new banking and investing products and partnered with Canada Post for cash deposits. Elevate CEO Lisa Zarzeczny praised Wealthsimple’s commitment to “democratizing access to sophisticated financial tools.”
Wealthsimple co-founder and CEO Michael Katchen will accept the award and participate in a keynote discussion at the CIX Summit on March 25th in Toronto, where over 600 entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders are expected to attend. Previous winners of the CIX Innovator of the Year award include Shopify, Wattpad, Lightspeed Commerce, and Clio.
The announcement follows Elevate’s recent announcement of the CIX Startup Awards winners, recognizing 14 emerging Canadian companies, including Hiive, Eavor, LioRA, Xubin Aerospace, Loopio, Sonaro, and Elle, MD Biotechnologies.
