Doctrine Acquires Maite.ai, Spain’s Leading Legal AI Platform, Strengthening its European Leadership

Doctrine, the European leader in legal AI, has acquired Maite.ai, Spain’s leading legal AI platform, marking its entry into the Spanish market and expanding its customer base to 27,000 legal professionals across five countries. Founded in 2024, Maite.ai quickly gained prominence with a 20-fold increase in ARR in 2025 and serves over 2,000 customers with its advanced legal AI copilot, boasting a 99% success rate on the Spanish judiciary access exam.

This acquisition reinforces Doctrine’s commitment to building a sovereign European legal AI leader tailored to local legal specificities. Doctrine differentiates itself by combining deep expertise in local legal data with the private data of legal professionals, ensuring GDPR compliance and meeting high security standards. The company has grown through both organic growth and a series of strategic acquisitions, including Legaltile, Jobexit, Dejure, and Predictice.

According to Doctrine CEO Guillaume Carrère, the integration of Maite.ai will “consolidate our position as the European leader in legal AI.” Maite.ai CEO Alejandro Castellano stated that joining Doctrine provides the “scale and stability necessary to sustainably consolidate our leadership in Spain.” The Maite.ai team will continue to operate in Spain, with plans for further hiring and growth, leveraging Doctrine’s decade of AI expertise to serve over one million lawyers and legal professionals across Europe.
