Solo founder runs company with 15 AI agents — here's how

Aaron Sneed, a solo founder in the defense-tech industry, created “The Council,” a system of 15 custom GPTs designed to handle various business functions, including HR, legal, finance, and more. Faced with limited resources as a solopreneur, Sneed leveraged AI to automate tasks traditionally requiring dedicated employees. He emphasizes the importance of continuous training for these AI agents, noting it initially took weeks to achieve desired results, but has since improved his prompting skills and the agents’ performance.

Sneed’s approach involves assigning different levels of authority to each agent, with a chief of staff agent prioritizing tasks based on risk and opportunity. He intentionally trained the agents to provide pushback, avoiding simple agreement and encouraging critical evaluation of his ideas. A 'roundtable' setup allows all agents to weigh in on proposals, mitigating potential hallucinations or knowledge gaps.

While AI has replaced several roles, Sneed stresses that it doesn’t replace human judgment. He uses his AI legal agent to prepare initial work for his lawyer, but recognizes the irreplaceable value of a human lawyer’s experience and contextual understanding. Sneed envisions a future where specialized AI agents assist individual human experts in each field, enhancing their capabilities rather than replacing them entirely.
