Chantel Grant and GM Law Firm in Boca Raton - Where Altruism Meets Consumer Defense

Chantel Grant is a Senior Partner at GM Law Firm, LLC. After attending law school in Florida, she developed her legal career by fighting debt collection cases. She uses her knowledge and passion to defend against credit card, medical, and private student loan lawsuits by analyzing the complaint for deficiencies and seeking instances of unlawful debt collection and improper credit reporting to use as leverage.

In addition to being a Partner at GM, Chantel also enjoys the opportunity to give back to the community whenever possible. Chantel's life-long passion for consumer debt resolution is only rivaled by her love for animals. She shares her home with multiple feathered friends, including parrots and ducks. Her altruism goes beyond her love of animals. Alongside GM, Chantel collects food throughout the year to donate to Feeding South Florida and toys that go to the Marine Toys for Tots program. The firm also participates in Alzheimer’s Association Walks and offers pro-bono work to clients with Alzheimer’s.

Consumer defense is all about people, and helping to stop unfair, deceptive and fraudulent business practices by collecting complaints and conducting investigations, suing companies and collectors that break the law, developing rules to maintain a fair marketplace, and educating consumers about their rights and responsibilities. Chantel has always been a consumer defense attorney but wasn’t expecting it to become her career. Right out of school, she landed a job dealing with debt defense and hasn’t looked back. The longer she works in the field, the more she loves the idea of giving back by fighting back, going up against big private student loan and credit card companies.

The goal of GM is to help people who have found themselves in difficult financial situations due to taking on too much debt. While there are many reasons for which a person can fall into debt, most of them are personal including the loss of employment, medical emergencies, divorce, declining home values, small business failures, or student loans. Along with Chantel, the attorneys at GM have significant experience in consumer protection, consumer law, and debt resolution and have successfully represented clients against debt related issues. They have a strong understanding of debtor laws and use that understanding to keep debt collection efforts from turning into major lawsuits.

Chantel’s role at GM is to oversee the staff and make sure each client has representation in every step of this process. Together they handle Fair Debt Collection Practice Act (“FDCPA”) violations, Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”) violations, Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”) violations, as well as other federal consumer defense statutes that were enacted to help protect consumers from debt collection harassment. They also represent consumers if they are sued by their creditors, and help resolve their debts, either through violations, litigation, or as a last resort, with a partial dismissal. Since very few lawyers want to take these cases, and most lawyers do not represent student loan lawsuits at all, Chantel has found a home at GM, and GM has found a leader in Chantel.
