Salina attorney surrenders law license (Salina Journal)
A Salina attorney is in the process of moving out of his office after surrendering his license to practice law in the state. Andrew S. Hartnett II surrendered his license in May while a review was pending before the Kansas Supreme Court. (More)
Is FTC Hedging on Plans to Apply ID Theft Rule to Law Firms? #ABAChicago
The Federal Trade Commission’s announcement that it would suspend implementation of a controversial regulation that would require many businesses to take steps to prevent identity theft gives the ABA more time to press its argument that the regulation should not be applied to lawyers, the association’s president said on Thursday. The FTC announced on Wednesday that it would put off implementation of the so-called “red flag rule” until Nov. 1. Originally, the rule was scheduled to go into effect on Saturday, Aug. 1. Karl Rove Tells N.Y. Times: I Relayed US Attorney Hiring & Firing Info
A former top White House aide during the administration of President George W. Bush says he relayed information that may have encouraged the hiring and firing of federal prosecutors, including at least one of the nine U.S. attorneys who reportedly may have been dismissed for political reasons in 2006.
