OMAHA — Joe Stecher, an assistant United States attorney, was appointed Friday as interim U.S. attorney for the District of Nebraska. Stecher succeeds Mike Heavican, who is leaving the department to serve as chief justice of Nebraska’s Supreme Court. Heavican had held the post since 2001.
